Interview mit POPCORN Hardware aus Madrid - Hardware-Brand & Madrids tighteste Skate-Crew

DMLB: Let´s have a look behind the curtain. What is POPCORN hardware?

Popcorn: Popcorn is a homie thing from Madrid. At first we wanted to make a wheel company, but we finally decided to make it a hardware brand, to be able to have all our friends on the team. ´Cuz until then, there wasn't any spanish hardware company. That's actually a perfect excuse to do what we love!  (Skate, travel, make videos...)

DMLB: Who are the heads behind this project?
Popcorn: Fernando Pérez, Dimas Noval and I (Juan "Kruman" Cru).

DMLB: Is there a Team – Who is representing POPCORN so far?

Popcorn: We actually have a big crew. Our plan for Popcorn since day one was to have as many friends as we can on the team, but it's more about a crew than a company. In the official team we have Juan Algora "Jura", Alain Saavedra, Niki, José Veliz, Marco Rivera, Juan Gefael, Joaquín Ródenas, Fernando Pérez, Gerardo Anaya, Symeon Jamal, Paul London, Adrián del Campo, Ramón Dios, Dimas Noval, Sergio Muñoz, Felipe Bartolomé.

DMLB: Recently there are a couple of fresh brands like DAMAGE and CAPITOL launched in Madrid. I had this feeling, that Skateboarding in Madrid was kind of sleeping for some time before.
What´s going on in Madrid lately?

Popcorn: Madrid has always been a city with a big skate scene. In the last few years we´ve gotten many new spots, which is making more people come and skate here. I guess Madrid has been all this years a little bit underrated because of Barcy. But it makes sense, Barcy is a paradise for skating and such an amazing city for holidays, but you should check out Madrid. Nowadays there are plenty of new good spots and big crews all connected together. If you come we will try to make u feel like at home.
And yeah there are some new interesting brands born and raised in Madrid. Actually these two you just mentioned are really cool brands owned by good friends and also really good skaters.

DMLB: Since i´ve been to Madrid in October i´m in love with this city, the spots and the vibe of your Skate-Crew. Everybody was backing the Popcorn Thing.
My feeling was, that Skateboarding in Madrid is some kind of a family-thing. Am i right?

Popcorn: Yes, that´s what i was trying to say before. Right now in Madrid there's a big crew of homies all around the city, that skate together. There was also a skate bar (in Malasaña - downtown Madrid) called "Amor de Madre", which was the perfect spot to meet up the boys after skating to start a proper night!!

DMLB: If i need new Hardware, where can i buy POPCORN right now?

Popcorn: You can get it in pretty much all the "skateshops" in Spain and some of Portugal, thanks to Pier Distribution.
We also have a website for online shippings!

DMLB: Is Popcorn going to leave Spain and be more international in the future?

Popcorn: Thats what we would like to do, but we ain't in a hurry. We are happy with what we are doing, keep doing VX videos and some outfit gear to keep the homies fresh!  We actually feel super proud having all the homies supporting our little thing.

Da die Musik dazu führt, dass das Video in Deutschland bei Youtube gesperrt ist, solltet ihr einfach über einen Proxy gehen und das Video ansehen. Das solltet ihr ja kennen...

DMLB: Any Plans - What can we expect from Popcorn Hardware in 2016?

Popcorn: Well, I uploaded the Popcorn video few months ago, and if you noticed, the whole video is a big chaos with no individual parts, so my plan is to upload at least every month a remix part of some of the homies, who killed it the most or had enough footy. Oh and the second popcorn video will also be done before the end of the year. I'll wait for you guys in Madrid!!
